Guide for Authors

Handbook of Writing and Submission for Cereal Biotechnology and Biochemistry

Professors, researchers, and authors can prepare their unpublished scientific research manuscripts in various fields of seed science and technology based on the following guidelines and submit them by e-mail in order to review and print to the e-mail address of the journal electronically. The journal has no obligation to print or retrieve any submitted manuscripts.

Required files to be uploaded: Five essential files must be submitted through the manuscript submission system: 1. The main file of the manuscript (without the names of the authors), 2. Title page in the mentioned format, 3. Authorship form (must include the title of the article and the name and surname of all authors and be signed by all authors), 4. Conflicts of Interest form (must be signed by the Corresponding Author and uploaded with the article file), and 5. Cover letter.

Important points

4. If the manuscript is elicitated from a dissertation, the corresponding author should be the supervisor.

5. Manuscripts are merely the result of the author or author's research, and only in the field of seed science and technology.

6. When a manuscript is received and checked out by the editor, approve it with the manuscript preparation guide. If it is followed the journal format then will be submitted to reviewers. After the decision of the reviewers and the confirmation of the group of secretaries (editorial board), the manuscript will be published. If the submitted manuscript is not compliant with the manuscript preparation guide, it will be returned to the corresponding author and when it is received again, the date of receipt of the manuscript will be considered and submitted to reviewers.

Arrange different sections of the article

Each article contains an article specifications sheet, title, Persian abstract and keywords, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion (or results and discussion), gratitude, used references, and English abstract and keywords, respectively.

Article Specifications Sheet: This part is provided on a separate page and includes the title of the article, full name, scientific degree, place of service, postal address and e-mail of the author (s), and the corresponding author's phone number.

Title: The title of the article should be brief, glaring, and expressive of the main content of the article and not exceed 20 words. It is necessary to write the title of the article in the middle of the page and center of the row.

Persian abstract: The abstract should include the importance, objectives, and testing methods, with emphasis on the results of the research, and do not exceed 250 words. It is necessary at the end of the abstract, the most important applied and used research results should be mentioned maximum in two sentences.

Persian keywords: Keywords should include the most important used words and terms in the research, and range from 3 to 7 words. It is better not to use the terms in the title of the article as the keywords. Meanwhile, it is possible, the Persian abstract is not used. Keywords must be sorted in alphabetical order.

Introduction: In this section, while briefly describing the subject of research as well as the precise explanation of research hypotheses, it is sufficiently pointed out to the sources of previous research. At the end of the introduction, the objectives of the research are clearly expressed.

Materials and methods: This section includes a detailed description of the used materials and methods, the type of used project, sampling methods, and statistical analysis of the data. Meanwhile, new and innovative materials and methods should be explicitly and repeatable and, if adapted from other methods, only provide guidance and references.

Results: In this section, the results and research findings will be expressed in different ways, such as figures, tables, or descriptions, and refrain from providing data in duplicate. Also, to adjust the table, figure, or equation, follow the below steps:

  • Table: The title of all tables will be provided in both Persian and English and written above the table. To set the title of the tables, after the word of the table and its number, the dash is brought and then the Persian name, and then under the Persian title, the English title should be mentioned as the Persian title. The title of all the rows and columns of the tables is also in the up part, Farsi and in the low part, English, and all the numbers in the table text are written in English. In adjusting the tables, all vertical and horizontal lines are deleted and only horizontal lines on both sides of the headings of the columns and the horizontal line of the table are drawn.
  • Figure: All diagrams, figures, and photographs are named figures. The title of all figures will be written below and in both Persian and English. In setting the title of the figures, after the word is given, its figure and number, the dash, and the next will be written as Persian, and then the Persian title will be translated exactly into English under the heading "Persian". In presenting charts, while naming the axes of the charts in both Farsi and English, the corresponding units are written in parentheses and all the numbers on the axes should also be inserted into English. Avoid sending colored charts and use white, black, and completely different shadowy. All tables and figures should be numbered in the article, and the number should also be mentioned in the text of the article.
  • Equation: All equations or formulas must be typed in the Word Formula System with the precision of the Equation option and numbered respectively, such as (1), (2), (3), ... The equation number must be from the right end of the line and along the line containing the equation in parenthesis.

Discussion: In this section, the results of the research, scientific analysis and according to the objectives of the research, the response rate of the results to these goals are judged and carefully compared with the results of others. At the end of this section, there are scientific and practical suggestions for the use of others. This section can be combined with results as "Results and Discussion"

Acknowledgments: If necessary, the organizations and individuals who have somehow been successful in conducting the research are appreciated.

Used References

How to cite references in the article's text

It is necessary to cite all the used references in the writing of the article. To quote a reference at the end of a sentence, write the author's or author's surname along with the reference year in brackets, such as seedling rapid establishment increases its ability to cope with adverse environmental conditions and problems caused by ... (Nascimento, 2003). If several references are introduced at the end of the sentence, they are used to separate them from the semicolon (;), such as (Mantelin and Touraine, 2004; Mia, 2009). If the number of authors of a reference is more than two persons, first write the surname of the first author and then the term colleagues (et al) in italics,s and after that to be mentioned the year of publication of the reference, such as (Murungu et al., 2003). If the reference is cited at the beginning of the sentence, first the names of the authors should be written in Persian and then, the Persian names in Latin and the year of publication of the reference mentioned in the parenthesis and Continuing that the desired item to be mentioned, such as Ahmadi, 2003. In a test to investigate and determine the most suitable drought sensitivity index in white chickpea cultivars…, Ehteshami and Chaichi (1998) comparing the seeds of two Turkman and Native cultivars was observed radicle growth was higher in Turkmen cultivars at different concentrations of salinity compared to the native cultivar....and could produce a larger radicle. The increase in shoot length is also attributed to gibberellin production by growth-promoting bacteria (Cassan et al., 2009).

 References Setting

The list of references should include the references mentioned and published in the text and also includes references that are accepted for publication according to the Harvard referencing style. Personal correspondence or unpublished research is only mentioned in the text of the article. For references that are published online without a volume or page number, a digital identifier is required. All the used references, including Persian and English, will be returned in English at the end of the article and arranged in the alphabetical order of the surname of the first author and, if necessary, arranged by the next writers. In writing references, the first surname and then the first letter of the name of all authors should be written. References with repeated names, since the old publication, with priority, respectively, a writer, two writers, and several writers, and, if necessary, sorted by the surname of the second writer from the old to the new one. References with the same names of the authors and the year of publication are identified with the letters a, b, c, and ... after the number of years in parentheses. If single and common articles are presented in one year by an author, first arrange single articles and then join common articles in alphabetical order of the names of the next authors. At the end of the Persian references, the phrase (In Persian) should be in parentheses. The mention of unnamed and inaccessible resources is not allowed. The day and month of retrieving a document in electronic references that are available only on the Web site should be specified in the document, such as Retrieved June 10. The name of the scientific journals should be mentioned in full. Also at the end of each reference, the word Book, Journal, Thesis, etc. should be presented in parentheses as English and bold.

In the case of a reference that the author does not specify, instead of the name of the author to be used of "Anonymous" for English references and (بی نام) for Persian references.

If the reference is translated, the first name of the author (s) of the original book, the title of the profile (in English), and then the name of the translator (translators) should be given in the list of references.

The methods of References setup are provided in the following examples:
